Our purpose in Unilever’s Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Science (SERS) group is to protect people and the environment from harm by ensuring the company’s innovations and products are safe, sustainable and compliant by design.
SERS is Unilever’s global centre of excellence in safety, sustainability & regulatory science. We apply modern techniques, deep scientific expertise, and an evidence-based approach to ensure that Unilever’s products are safe for consumers and workers, better for the environment and compliant with regulations.
Working with teams across Unilever, from the beginning to the end of a product’s life, we ensure that safety and sustainability are built into everything we make and do. Safety and environmental sustainability assessments are performed by our dedicated team of scientists, who use data from leading-edge scientific approaches, complemented by an understanding of the ingredients and product types, and knowledge of how consumers use the products.
Our scientists work with leading experts around the globe to constantly develop and advance the science and data we use to assess our product innovations and comply with regulatory requirements.
